Ameya Naik is an Associate Fellow (non-resident) with the geostrategy programme at the Takshashila Institution. His research covers Indian foreign policy, diplomacy, international organisations, and international law. He also co-teaches the Introduction to Public Policy Analysis course as part of the Policy School, and is an occasional guest on global affairs-focused episodes of the Pragati podcast.

Prior to joining Takshashila, Ameya worked with think tanks in New York and Boston, conducting research on UN peacekeeping, conflict resolution, transitional justice, and post-conflict governance, including case studies on peace operations in Sudan and Somalia for the African Union-commissioned African Peace Missions Report (2016). An experienced writer and editor, he began his career as speechwriter and executive assistant to Dr. Shashi Tharoor in the Ministry of Human Resource Development of India.

Ameya is an alumnus of Takshashila’s Graduate Certificate in Public Policy, and was one of the first recipients of the Takshashila Research Scholarship in 2013-14, to conduct research on Indian energy security and oil procurement policy. He holds a B.A. in Psychology and an LL.B. from Mumbai University, a PG Diploma in International Humanitarian Law from NALSAR University of Law, and a dual M.A. in Law and Diplomacy and LL.M. in International Law from The Fletcher School at Tufts University. While at Fletcher, he was also the recipient of research scholarships from the Harvard Program on Negotiation and the Tufts Institute for Global Leadership, and was a Fellow of the Tufts Initiative on Mass Atrocities and Genocide. His work has been published by the IPI Global Observatory, the World Peace Foundation, the Fletcher Forum of World Affairs, Mint, and Pragati.
